PETER COOLIDGE
FOR SHERIFF
ABOUT ME
MEET PETE COOLIDGE
A Foundation of Responsibility
My journey began in 6th grade when my father, Calvin Coolidge, became ill. I quickly learned to take on adult responsibilities like cooking and laundry, all while keeping up with school. By 7th grade, I was helping manage his doctor's appointments and medication. Throughout high school, I balanced these duties with a job, and I couldn't have done it without the support of a great circle of friends. This experience, though difficult, taught me the meaning of dedication and care.
A Career of Service
In 1996, I turned my commitment to service into a career with the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, where I would spend the next 28 years. Sadly, my father passed away in 1998, but the lessons he taught me continued to guide me.
Throughout my career, I had the privilege of working in all three bureaus: Corrections, Law Enforcement, and Courthouse Administration. I was honored to be named Deputy of the Month several times and was once named Deputy of the Year. My experience included:
-
Serving on the Emergency Response Team in Corrections, handling everything from medical emergencies to high-priority situations.
-
Working as a Juvenile Officer in Law Enforcement and earning certifications from FEMA for emergency response and rapid response training with our local high schools.
-
Screening and responding to warrant arrests in the courthouse.
A New Chapter and a Renewed Purpose
After retiring in February 2024, I thought my time in public service was over. But life had another beautiful plan. I met my amazing fiancée, Jennifer, and instantly welcomed her four children—John, Luke, JR, and Valerie—into my heart. Jennifer is my rock, and with her loving support, I feel a renewed sense of purpose.
My commitment to this community is stronger than ever. That is why I am running for DuPage County Sheriff—to continue a lifetime of service for the people of DuPage County.
